We will be releasing Baruwa Enterprise Edition version 2.0.5 on Monday 14th July 2014

This is an important update as it includes updates to critical dependencies with changes to various configuration files.

The Baruwa package has also been split into 3 packages baruwa, baruwa-mailscanner and baruwa-sphinx. This fixes the mailscanner permissions issue, allows for indexing on a separate host without requiring baruwa installed.

This post introduces the changes and allows you to prepare for the upgrade.

MailScanner

Due to inactivity in the upstream as well as internal development requirements that are not inline with the broader community we have decided to fork an internal Baruwa specific version, as part of this fork we have removed the copyrighted phishing lists and replaced them with our own lists that are available at https://datafeeds.baruwa.com/

To fix the chicken and egg permissions issue when updating mailscanner we have created the baruwa-mailscanner package which is required by the mailscanner package and ensures that the incoming and the quarantine directories retain the correct permissions during an update

This is a bugfix and enhancement update which takes the version to 4.85.3. The changes are as follows for this version

  • Restored the F-Secure and Esets AV wrappers
  • Fixed issue with left over temp files
  • Updated phishing data scripts to use datafeeds.baruwa.com
  • Removed Copyrighted phishing data
  • Pointed place holder gif to datafeeds.baruwa.com

Exim has been upgraded to version 4.82, this includes the database logging functionality without having to patch. This means that you will need to update your Exim configuration files as the database logging is now implemented as an option of a transport.
